Untitled

Music floats across the smoke filled room
Tears seal off the cryptic tomb
Where her ashes lie undisturbed
Feelings bottled, emotions curbed
Morbid life, melancholic death
Uncertain till the very last breath
Wondering what went wrong and why?
Sorrow and betrayal lifes only reply
The questions were fuzzy, maybe not so deep
Why didn’t she look? Why did she leap?
But the strings were breaking, the last one taut
Unleashing the torrent of a viscious onslaught
What began as a storm, ceased like a breeze
His job was to heal her terminal disease
He succeeded not, but he had achieved
The sentence to death was now reprieved
Internally decayed, maggots fed on her flesh
Losing all faith in ever starting afresh.
Hopes shattered by a blow to the heart
When he didn’t even turn to watch her depart
Hand writ an elegy sitting on the porch
Trying in vain to show the sun a torch
The obvious and apparent oft don’t show
High seas rock the ship of life, to and fro
But what starts must end, albeit in grief
Etched on raw flesh a murky motif
To love and be loved was all she yearned
Dismay filled her being when she learned
She was for him just another picture to burn
Sealing all the passion in that sacred urn
Cowered under the supremacy of indifference
To shun the absinthe and embrace temperance
Mauled by tranquility, shredded by silence
An ageing flower with a faded fragrance...
